Privacy Policy

Wordspill · operated by N8

Effective date: July 25, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains what happens to information when you use Wordspill (the "App"), a word‑unscrambling utility provided by N8 ("we", "us", "our"). It applies to the App on Android and iOS.

Our design principle is simple: the App has no account, no login, and no server of its own. We do not run a backend that stores your personal data. Where information is processed, it is handled on your device or by the third‑party services described below, not by us.

Please read this carefully. By using the App, you agree to this Policy.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information stored on your device (by you)

The App stores the following only on your device, using local storage. None of it is transmitted to us or to any server we operate:

2.2 Information collected automatically

We do not track users, run analytics, or collect crash reports of our own. Third‑party services integrated into the App (Google AdMob for ads, and Google Play / Apple App Store for app distribution and billing) may collect standard technical and diagnostic data as described in Section 3.

2.3 Permissions

The App requests the minimum permissions needed:

The App does not request or access your location, contacts, camera, photos, or external storage.

3. Third‑party services

The App integrates the following third‑party services. These services may collect and process data according to their own privacy policies, which we link below. We do not control their data practices.

3.1 Advertising — Google AdMob

To keep the App free, we show ads provided by Google AdMob. Google's advertising SDK may collect data such as your advertising identifier (e.g. Android Advertising ID / Apple IDFA), device and operating‑system information, IP address (used to derive approximate location), and information about the ads you see and interact with, in order to serve and measure ads. We do not receive this data. See Google Privacy Policy and How AdMob uses data.

Where required by law (for example in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland), we present a consent notice before personalized ads are shown, and you may withdraw consent at any time.

3.2 Word definitions — dictionaryapi.dev

When you tap a word to view its definition, the App sends an online request (over HTTPS) containing that word to the free dictionary service at dictionaryapi.dev. That service will see the requested word and your device's IP address. See dictionaryapi.dev.

3.3 Fonts — Google Fonts

The App may download font files from Google's font servers to render its interface. As with any web request, Google will see your IP address as part of delivering those files. See Google Fonts privacy FAQ.

3.4 Purchases — Google Play / Apple App Store

The optional non‑renewing ad‑free passes (1 Month, 3 Months, 12 Months) are processed entirely by Google Play Billing or Apple's App Store. We receive only the purchase completion status and expiration timestamp to grant ad‑free status; we never see your payment card or billing details.

4. How information is used

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with data brokers, and we do not build advertising profiles of our own.

5. Storage & security

Because we operate no server and hold no account data, there is no central database of your information for us to secure or breach. Your locally stored data is kept within your device's protected app storage. We recommend keeping your device's operating system and lock screen up to date.

6. Children's privacy

The App is a general‑audience utility and is not directed to children under 13 (or under the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App contains no account and collects no personal data of our own. If you believe a child has provided information through a third‑party service used by the App, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

7. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live (including the EEA, UK, and California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port personal information, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. Because we hold no personal data on any server, most of your data lives only on your device and is fully under your control:

For data held by a third party (Google, Apple, the dictionary service), you can exercise your rights directly with that provider using the links in Section 3. You may also contact us at innatetelos@icloud.com and we will assist where we can.

California (CCPA/CPRA): We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as defined by California law. The identifiers and approximate location processed by Google AdMob are used for advertising; you may opt out of personalized advertising via your device settings or the App's consent notice.

8. Data retention

Locally stored history is automatically capped at the 100 most recent searches; favorites and settings remain until you clear them or uninstall the App. We retain no personal data on any server, so there is no server‑side retention period on our side. Third parties retain data according to their own policies.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time, for example when we add features or services. We will change the "Effective date" at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
